Melanie W.

Melanie attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison for her undergraduate education, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in both Psychology and Legal Studies. Melanie’s passion has always been in the sciences. In undergrad, she worked in two research labs, volunteered at American Family Children’s Hospital, and tutored her fellow students in organic and general chemistry. She has always had a calling in the humanities as well. Some of Melanie’s favorite courses were moral philosophy and the ethics of medicine. She loves immersing herself in new cultures through travel and studied abroad for a semester at the University of Sydney.

Melanie has tutored in various capacities since high school. She believes that success in academia has more to do with capitalizing on individual strengths and a strong work ethic than natural ability. Through her own experiences, Melanie discovered the importance of forming personalized study habits (not everyone learns the same!). Melanie’s approach focuses on tailoring the sessions to individual needs, instilling confidence, and developing a strong tutor- student relationship. Her students would describe her as friendly, patient, and dedicated. Melanie is happy to work with students who study biology, physics, and chemistry. She also assists with executive function coaching.

Currently, Melanie is in her first year of Boston University’s Masters of Medical Sciences program, with intentions to eventually attend medical school. When she isn’t busy with school, you can find Melanie starting a new art project, going to Orangetheory, listening to true crime podcasts, reading, or playing with her two cats, Willow and Oakley.
