Christina D.
Christina is a published writer and editor with over ten years of experience teaching writing in various capacities. She has worked with non-profits such as Girls Write Now, where she served as a curriculum developer and program coordinator, and with Writopia Lab as a creative writing instructor. She has taught AP Literature in Panama City, Panama, as well as expository and creative writing at the University of Miami. For the past five years, she has worked one-on-one with high school seniors on crafting memorable Common App essays. Christina holds a BFA in Dramatic Writing from NYU Tisch School of the Arts and an MFA in Fiction Writing from the University of Miami, where she was a Michener Fellow in fiction from 2017 to 2020. Her fiction and non-fiction have appeared in publications such as New York Magazine, Washington Square Review, Boston Review, and VICE, among others.
Christina is available to help with all aspects of writing — from SAT/ACT Reading section preparation, to expository writing at the middle, high school, or university level, to her favorite: the elusive college application essay. Her teaching philosophy is student-centered and highly individualized, and is rooted in the belief that every young writer is capable of bringing their own voice, strengths, and perspectives to the page. Christina’s goal is to help each writer gain confidence not just in their abilities but in themselves, guiding them through the process of reflection, building clarity of expression, and helping them develop their authentic writing voice. Whether supporting students through the rigors of academic writing or encouraging crafted, self-reflective storytelling, she fosters an environment of curiosity, honesty, and growth.
Christina lives in Brooklyn with her partner, a documentary filmmaker, their rescue dog Bendita, and their unusually friendly cat Sesame. She is currently at work on a story collection and a novel, and when she is not writing, her hobbies include reading, going on long city walks, seeing movies in theaters, hanging with friends, making new ones, and eating whatever her partner cooks.
